I paid my utility bill through my bank before the due date but I just received a late bill with a penalty. Why is this?

The City of Canal Winchester does not receive payments made through banks directly to our bank. A physical check is written by the bank, mailed to the city, and posted when received. Banks can take 5-10 to process the payment. Please allow sufficient time for the city to receive your payment when paying through your bank.
